"Greats"

If you are a movie buff and are looking for a movie with a great underlying theme, here are a few to consider:

  1. There is a vast variety of themes in the movies posted here. I have only seen two of them (the fourth one does not show up). I loved "American Beauty." I loved how the beauty in everything was found. Without giving away the ending I must say that I found it heart-breaking. I also found it as a good portrayal of mental disease such as depression or the type of things a person with a brain tumor may begin to do, although the movie does not mention these aspects. The other movie I have seen I can not say I loved. When all the hype about "The Usual Suspects" was going around, I obviously attempted to watch it, twice and both times I fell asleep. I could not get into the movie. Years later I saw it on cable and I can't say I loved it. Maybe I already had a preconception that it was a bad movie that caused me to fall asleep.

  2. I have only seen "The Usual Suspects" and bits of "American Beauty." I think Kevin Spacey is a great actor. "The Usual Suspects" was hard to follow the first time I saw it. Half way through the film I lost interest and only half paid attention. The second time I saw it I loved it. I liked how you never knew who was the boss until it was too late to stop him. I thought Kevin Spacey was really good in that film. Another good movie of his is "The Life of David Gale."

  3. I love the movie, "I think I love my wife". First of all, I was very skeptical when I first heard Chris Rock directed the movie himself. However, the movie is a blast. It is funny and smart. This movie depicts today's issue of a traditional marriage vs a new age(Sex and the City type of life style) marriage and it demystifies them all together. Although, I have to say, this movie is geared more toward men than women. But overall, this is one of the better movies I have seen in a while.

  4. I totally agree with you Cheol. There is this new age now. It is tough for people married and those succesful in the city and this shows an almost real-life situation of how things might occur.
